Malcolm Sutherland

Malcolm Sutherland was a student of both astronomy and classical printmaking before he discovered animation at the Quickdraw Animation Society in Calgary, Alberta. He has since made many animated films both independently and with the National Film Board of Canada. He has been lucky enough to accompany several of his films at major animation festivals around the world, and currently lives in Montreal, Quebec.(via)

THE MAKING OF FORMING GAME

Forming Game Instructions: Open box, unfold board. To begin play, place a shape on the board. Interact with the game using your hands. As it develops, the flow of shapes may suggest certain objects or a hidden order. You can bring forth certain forms or sit back and let them come to you. Playing takes time to master, as you must learn to evolve with the game. There is no winner or loser in the forming game, it is played for the fun of it, and although it begins with one piece, what develops is always a mystery ...
