Valentin Olshvang

Was born on August 19, 1961 in Yekaterinburg. In 1980 he graduated the theatre – decoration faculty at the Sverdlovsk art-college and he worked in the Theatre for Young Spectators in Yekaterinburg as the scene painter. In 1986 he graduated the Animation section at the Art faculty of the All-Union State Institute of the Cinematography (the V. Kurchevskii’s workshop) and in 1997 - the independent-animators section at the High Courses of the Screenwriters and Directors (U. Norshtein’s workshop). From 1985 he creates as the art director of the cartoon films at the Sverdlovsk’s studio of the artistic animation. Valentin is the author of the book “How do you like it?” (1994, London) and the participant of the multiple art exhibitions. He creates the cartoons since 1997, works as director, screenwriter, artist, scene painter, animator. Many of his compositions were awarded variety of prizes and awards.
The last film “About crayfish” (2003) won the Grand-Prix at the International Film Festival “KROK” in 2003, the Grand-Prix at the Film Festival of the Children Animation “The Golden Fish”, the Special Award at the International Film Festival “Cinanima” in Espinho and the Special Award at the All-Russia Festival of the Animated Films in Suzdal.
